A marriage must be conducted at either:
- a church;
- another structure built for the purposes of religious services – chapel, mosque, etc;
- in the offices of the Department of Home Affairs;
- a private house – either in the house itself or in its garden or grounds;
- a hospital or facility concerned in the case of illness of one of the wedding couple
- Although no roof is essential, the above venues should have open doors signifying that it is not a private matter but is done in the presence of all;
- Must be In the presence of the parties to the marriage and at least two witnesses.
